On the 9th of November, the club was officially invited for a UNICEF conference that was to be held in Ho from the 16th-18th of November 2020. The event was a part of efforts by key national stakeholders to refresh, review and validate proposed new content for the Agoo platform in the context of COVID-19 pandemic for dissemination to the youth. The proposed new content consists of sexual and reproductive health rights, Back to school(how to motivate young people to return to school), digital safety, Increased uptake of Iron and Folic acid (IFA) amongst adolescent girls, Sexual and gender based violence and Mental health and wellbeing of young people in Ghana and employability, entrepreneurship and gender equality. The club was represented by both president and vice at the event. The 17th of November 2020 was the first day of the day of the conference. Participants were categorised into groups on topic bases; every group was provided content from which key messages were to be extracted after discussions and modifications.
For this year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day, a joint partnership of Obaapa Foundation, Girl Up Ghana as well as reputable sponsors organized an event aimed at commenorating the important day. The event that took place on the 29th of May, 2021 on the forecourt of the Nkwantakese chief’s palace was duly hosted by the chief of Nkwantakese, Nana Ababio. Mission Queens Girl Up was in attendance, represented by several members who also took the opportunity to engage the school girls, who formed a major part of the gathering, on issues of menstrual health. Indeed, the proceedings are testament to the budding progress of the club in terms of community engagement and outreaches.
